How to tell whether or not a title is available for checkout

You can tell if a title is available for checkout using the Borrow or Place a hold link beneath the title.

If you see a Borrow link beneath the title, you can check it out right away.

When a title isn't available to borrow, you'll see a Place a hold link. This could mean that all copies of the title are checked out or the title hasn't been released yet. If you place a hold on a title, you'll be notified when it's ready to borrow.

You can check a title's details page to see if it's a pre-release title. Pre-release titles display the expected release date.

Note: In rare cases, a title will show as "Unavailable" and won't allow you to borrow or place a hold on it. This is usually temporary, and you can check back later for updated availability.
