General troubleshooting for the OverDrive app
If the OverDrive app isn't working properly (titles aren't loading properly, the app crashes, etc.), here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.
Please try these steps in order. Once your issue is resolved, there's no need to continue to the next step.
If you have OverDrive installed on a Fire tablet, or if you're in a country where the OverDrive app is still available:
- Make sure you're using the latest version of the OverDrive app by going to your device's app store and checking for updates.
- Close the OverDrive app completely by swiping it from your recently used apps list.
- Restart your device.
- Hold down the Power button until options appear.
- Tap Power Off, then OK (if prompted) to turn off your device.
- Contact support for more help, and let them know you tried all the steps in this article.
If you're in a country where the OverDrive app for iOS is still available:
- Make sure you're using the latest version of the OverDrive app by going to the App Store and checking for updates.
- Close the OverDrive app completely by swiping it up from your app switcher.
- Restart your device.

If you're in a country where the OverDrive app for Android and Chromebook is still available:
- Make sure you're using the latest version of the OverDrive app by going to your device's app store and checking for updates.
- Close the OverDrive app completely by swiping it from your recently used apps list.

- Tap Power Off, then OK (if prompted) to turn off your device.

If you're in a country where the OverDrive app for Windows 8/10 is still available:
- Make sure you're using the latest version of the OverDrive app by going to the Windows Store and checking for updates.
- Close the OverDrive app completely.
- On a desktop: Click the X icon in the top-right corner of the app window.
- On a touchscreen: Press the back button, then swipe down from the top of the screen and drag the app to the bottom of the screen.
- Restart your device.
- On a desktop: Right-click on the Start menu and select Shut down or sign out, then Restart.
- On a touchscreen device: Press and hold the Power button and swipe down on the screen.
