Note: If you see "Unable to Add eBook" with an error code at the end (like "E_ADEPT_USER_AUTH"), run a search for the error code to find specific troubleshooting steps.

Here are some error messages you may see when trying to download an eBook to the app bookshelf:

  • Unable to Add eBook: An error occurred when adding this eBook to the app bookshelf.
  • Fulfillment Failed: An error occurred when adding this eBook to the app bookshelf.
  • eBook Problem: There’s a problem with this eBook, so it can’t be added to your bookshelf. We’re aware of the issue, but while we work on the fix, please try a different title.

Unfortunately, these error messages mean that something's wrong with the eBook file, and there's currently no way to add it to your app bookshelf. We're working on fixes for these eBooks and appreciate your patience.

While you wait, you can select the Read button on your library's OverDrive website to read the eBook using OverDrive Read instead of adding it to your app bookshelf.

When you see an update for the app available (OverDrive 3.5.3+), be sure to update and try adding the eBook to your bookshelf again.
