This error typically occurs because the OverDrive app is having trouble saving files to your device. To resolve this issue, use the troubleshooting steps below.

  1. If your device is plugged into your computer, unplug it. Then, try downloading the title again.
    If it downloads successfully, there's no need to continue to step 2.
    Note: To avoid this error in the future, make sure your device isn't connected to a computer when downloading titles to the OverDrive app.
  2. Change the download location setting in the OverDrive app.
    • Tap the icon in the top-left corner to open the Home menu, then tap Settings.
    • Check your available storage options under "Save downloaded titles to..."
      App storage options. See instructions above.
    • Select whichever storage option has the most free space.
    • Try downloading the title again. If it downloads successfully, there's no need to continue to step 3.
  3. Delete the files for the title, but don't return it. Then, try downloading the title again from the app bookshelf.
    If it downloads successfully, there's no need to continue to step 4.
  4. Remove the title from your app history.
    • Open the Home menu, then tap History.
    • Select the title(s) you'd like to delete.
    • Tap Delete, then Yes to confirm.
    • Try downloading the title again. If it downloads successfully, there's no need to continue to step 5.
  5. Delete your app cookies.
    • Open the Home menu.
    • Tap Settings.
    • Scroll down and tap Delete app cookies.
    • Try downloading the title again. If it downloads successfully, there's no need to continue to step 6.
  6. Open your device's web browser and clear your browsing history. Then, try downloading the title again through the OverDrive app.
