This error typically occurs when you're trying to download an ebook to the OverDrive app or Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). There are two possible causes for this error: your device's time, date, or time zone is incorrect or you're trying to open an old ACSM file that's saved on your device.

The full error may be like one of these:

  • An error occurred when adding this eBook to the bookshelf. (5.11.52:E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED)
  • Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ADEPT_CORE_EXPIRED
  • Adobe Activation Request Error: 2004 Adobe request error: E_ADEPT_REQUEST EXPIRED-2011-07-24T14:46:17=07:00(1311543977000) is before 2011-07-25T14:16;06-07;00 (1311628566827)
