You can use the OverDrive app to download and read borrowed eBooks on your Chromebook.

Once you've borrowed and downloaded an eBook in the app, tap the Home menu in the top-left corner of the app, go to your Bookshelf, and tap the eBook to begin reading.

Note: If you'd rather read eBooks in your Chrome web browser (without the OverDrive app), you can use OverDrive Read instead.

How to use the eBook reader in the OverDrive app

To go to the next page: Click or tap the right side of the screen.

To go to the previous page: Click or tap the left side of the screen.

To look up a word in the dictionary: Click (or tap) and hold a word, then select the magnifying glass. Or, select Wikipedia from the dictionary drop-down menu below the search field to look up the word on Wikipedia. You can also edit the field in the dictionary pop-up, which allows you to search for different words or phrases.

To open a hyperlink: Click (or tap) and hold the link.

To see your progress and access reader options: Click or tap the center of the screen.

You can borrow and read OverDrive Read and MediaDo Reader eBooks right in your web browser, or you can use the OverDrive app to download and read EPUB eBooks from your school or library's digital collection on your Chromebook.

Reading eBooks in your browser

To read an eBook in your web browser, just click or tap the Read (In your browser) button next to a borrowed eBook on your Checkouts page.

Reading eBooks using the OverDrive app

In the OverDrive app, download an EPUB eBook from your Checkouts page to the app Bookshelf.

Click or tap an eBook to open it and start reading.
