OverDrive is a free service offered by your library or school that lets you borrow digital content (like ebooks and audiobooks) anytime, anywhere. Every OverDrive collection is slightly different because each library or school picks the digital content they want for their users.
All you need to get started with free digital content from your library or school is a library card or student ID.
Explore the sections below to learn about some of the things you can do with OverDrive.
Libby (for public libraries)
If you belong to a public library, we recommend that you install our new app, Libby. Libby is the easiest way to borrow and enjoy digital content from your library.
Sora (for schools)
Our new Sora app is made just for students, and is available for most schools who use OverDrive.
OverDrive (for everyone)
If you can't use Libby or Sora (because of device or library/school compatibility), you can install the original OverDrive app to borrow and enjoy digital content on many devices.
On overdrive.com, you can explore all of the libraries and schools in the OverDrive network.
You can also search OverDrive's catalog of over two million digital titles, or browse special collections curated by OverDrive librarians. You'll be able to try samples (available for most titles), and when you find a title you'd like to borrow, you can see if your library or school has it.
If you don't see your library or school on overdrive.com, your library or school may not offer digital titles through OverDrive yet. Ask a library staff member or a teacher at your school to visit our company website for more information about building a digital collection through OverDrive.
