If you've installed both versions of the OverDrive app on your Windows 8 or 10 computer, you may want to borrow and read eBooks in OverDrive for Windows 8 but listen to audiobooks in OverDrive for Windows (desktop). By default, downloaded audiobooks will open in OverDrive for Windows 8, so you'll need to set OverDrive for Windows (desktop) to automatically open downloaded audiobooks instead.

  1. After you borrow an audiobook, right-click the Download button from your account, then select Save As. Or, you can select the Download button, then Save (if prompted; you may see this if you're using Internet Explorer).
  2. Once the ODM file has finished downloading, browse for it (by default, it'll be in your computer's Downloads folder) and right-click (or swipe down) on it.
  3. Select Open with, then choose OverDrive for Windows.
Open with dropdown to select program. See instructions above

Now all audiobooks you download from your library's OverDrive website will open in OverDrive for Windows (desktop).
