After you borrow an eBook or audiobook, you need to tap Download (or Add to app) from your library account to download it to your Bookshelf in the OverDrive app. Titles do not automatically download to your app Bookshelf after you borrow them.

If you tapped Download (or Add to app) and the title still isn't appearing on your app Bookshelf, follow the steps below:

  1. Download a file explorer app (like AndroZip or ES File Explorer).
  2. Open your library's digital collection in your device's web browser (find it at overdrive.com, if needed) and tap Download (or Add to app) from your library account to download the title again.
  3. In your file explorer app, find the title you just downloaded. You'll find it in your Downloads folder as an ACSM, ODM, or EPUB file with the title's name. (Example: TheHelp.ACSM)
Note: ACSM and ODM files expire shortly after being downloaded, so make sure you open them right after you download them.
  4. If you're prompted to choose an app to open the file, select OverDrive.

You may have to use these steps for each file type (EPUB, ACSM, and ODM) you download. After you follow these steps for each file type once, you should be able to simply tap the Download (or Add to app) button in your library's digital collection, and the title should open in the OverDrive app.
