Occasionally, installing Open Office (or LibreOffice) and OverDrive's desktop app on the same computer can cause a file association error. This means that Open Office is trying to open the ODM files that are designed for OverDrive. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.

First, set OverDrive's desktop app to open ODM files automatically

Follow the instructions in this article to associate ODM files with the OverDrive app.

If changing the ODM file association didn't work, try reinstalling both programs

  1. Uninstall both Open Office (or LibreOffice) and the OverDrive app. Use the steps from Microsoft's or Apple's support website for help uninstalling both apps.
  2. Download and install the latest version of Open Office (or LibreOffice).
  3. Install the OverDrive app from app.overdrive.com.
