Choose the image below that looks like the titles on your library's website.

If you see a Disabled button next to a title on your Loans page, it could mean several things:

  • The download format that comes with the title (or that you chose after you borrowed the title) might not be compatible with the device you're currently using. This can happen when you borrow the title on a computer or a compatible device and then switch to an incompatible device to download it.
  • You may have reached your download limit for that title. If that's the case, please contact your library for more help.

Even if the download button is disabled, most eBooks and audiobooks also come with a browser-based "Read" or "Listen" option that may work on your device. Just select the Read now or Listen now button on your library Loans page (if available) to open the title right in your browser. If a page opens that says your browser is incompatible, you'll need to update your device (if possible), download a compatible browser (like Chrome or Safari), or update your browser. Visit our OverDrive Read or OverDrive Listen compatibility articles for more information about what browsers and devices work best with these browser-based options.

If you see a Disabled button next to a title on your Checkouts page, it could mean several things:

  • The download format that comes with the title (or that you chose after you borrowed the title) might not be compatible with the device you're currently using. This can happen when you borrow the title on a computer or a compatible device and then switch to an incompatible device to download it.
  • You may have reached your download limit for that title. If that's the case, please contact your library for more help.
  • You may be connected to a library or school network that doesn't allow you to download titles. If that's the case, you should be able to download the title when you switch to a different network.
