The steps in this article will help you troubleshoot problems that you might encounter when you try to transfer audiobooks from your Windows computer to your Apple device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod).

What you need

How to resolve the issue

  1. Install the latest version of OverDrive for Windows.
  2. When transferring an audiobook, make sure you've selected the correct device from the "Player" drop-down menu.
    • Pick the option that says Apple device (name of your device) (not "Apple USB Driver," "ROOT directory...," etc.).
Play drop-down menu in the Transfer Wizard
    • After choosing the correct "Player" option, follow the rest of the transfer instructions (or follow the prompts in the wizard).
  3. If step 2 doesn't work, import the audiobook directly into iTunes and sync your Apple device to your iTunes library.
