If you're having trouble downloading part of a title (usually an audiobook), follow the steps below to connect to Wi-Fi, check to make sure downloading is turned on in the app, or go through additional troubleshooting steps.

If any of these steps resolve your issue, there's no need to continue to the next set of instructions.

Note: The following instructions are for newer versions of OverDrive (v3.0 and higher) for Android.

Step 1: Connect your Android device to a Wi-Fi network

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Toggle the Wi-Fi slider to the ON position. If you don't see a slider, tap Wi-Fi under "Wireless & networks" then toggle it ON.
  4. Tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to. Enter the network's password, if required.

Note: Many public Wi-Fi hotspots make you agree to terms and conditions before fully connecting you to the network.

If the title downloads successfully, there's no need to continue to the next set of instructions.

Step 2: Make sure downloading is turned on in the OverDrive app

  1. Open the OverDrive app.
  2. Tap the icon in the top-left corner to open the Home menu.
  3. Tap Files.
  4. Toggle the "Downloads" slider to the ON position.
  5. All files should download automatically. If they don't, select the title you'd like to download and tap Download all.

If the title downloads successfully, there's no need to continue to the next set of instructions.

Step 3: Cancel downloads, reboot, and re-download

  1. In the OverDrive app, tap Files, then select the title you're having trouble with.
  2. Tap Delete all to remove the files or cancel the pending downloads.
  3. Turn your device completely off, then back on again.
  4. Open the OverDrive app and go to the bookshelf.
  5. Tap the problematic title, then Yes to download the title from the Files menu.
  6. The Files menu will open. From here, tap the title, then Download all. To only download specific parts, select the parts from the list, then tap Download.
