Sometimes to solve issues with OverDrive downloads on a Windows computer, it is necessary to remove temporary files from the system. This option should only be used if you are still having trouble after removing all temporary internet files from your computer.

Note: This process will remove temporary files from your computer. Typically, this will not cause any loss of important data, but you should make sure that important files are backed up before proceeding.

Run the "Disk Cleanup Tool"

  1. Go to Start > Programs (or All Programs) > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup.
    Disk Cleanup will analyze your system. This could take a few minutes.
  2. Put a check in the boxes next to ONLY the following items:
    • "Temporary Internet Files"
    • "Temporary Files"
    • "Offline Webpages" or "Temporary Offline Files"
  3. Click OK to run the "Cleanup Wizard."
  4. When the wizard is complete, restart your computer.
