You can borrow and listen to audiobooks in your Chrome web browser using OverDrive Listen, or download and listen to MP3 audiobooks in the OverDrive app.

Note: For the best experience, we recommend updating the OverDrive app to the latest version when a new one is available from the Google Play store or Amazon Appstore.

Listening to audiobooks in your browser

To listen to an audiobook in your Chrome web browser, just tap the Listen (In your browser) button next to a borrowed audiobook on your library Bookshelf.

To learn more about OverDrive Listen, please see our getting started guide.

Note: OverDrive Listen does not work in the stock Android browser, on Kindle Fire tablets, or on NOOK HD+ and older tablets (even in Chrome).

Listening to audiobooks in the OverDrive app

  • In the OverDrive app, download an MP3 audiobook from your library website to the app bookshelf.
  • Tap an audiobook on your app bookshelf to open it and start listening.
Note: If you're using the legacy version of our app, you won't see the action bar at the top of the screen. To access these options, tap the Menu button on your device.
