Ereaders
Ereaders (also known as ebook readers) are available from a number of manufacturers and have displays that resemble ink printed on paper. They're used primarily for reading ebooks.
Note: Kindle ereaders are made specifically for reading Kindle Books and work a little differently than ereaders in this profile. If you have a Kindle ereader, please see our Kindle ereaders page instead.
Using ereaders with OverDrive ebooks
Download ebooks directly from your library
Many ereaders can download ebooks directly from the library's digital collection, including:
- Most Kobo ereaders, like the Kobo Sage, Libra 2, Libra H2O, Forma, Nia, Elipsa, Aura ONE, Aura H2O Edition 2, Aura Edition 2, and Clara HD. Learn about borrowing ebooks on these Kobos.
- PocketBook ereaders. Use the built-in browser to download borrowed ebooks, or use PocketBook x Libby on newer PocketBooks. Learn more on the PocketBook ereaders page.
- Newer Tolino ereaders. On models other than the Tolino shine 5, shine color, and vision color, you can use your Tolino's browser to download borrowed ebooks. Learn more about downloading ebooks from your Tolino's browser.
Transfer borrowed titles to them using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)
Use ADE for Mac and Windows to download and transfer ebooks to ereaders, including:
- NOOK GlowLight 4, GlowLight 3, and GlowLight Plus
- Tolino shine 5, shine color, and vision color
- The original Kobo Aura, Aura H2O, Touch 2.0, and Glo (no longer manufactured)
