An Adobe ID is a free user account that gives you access to digitally protected (DRM) eBooks in Adobe Digital Editions, in older versions of the OverDrive app, and on supported eReaders.

Note: You may also authorize newer versions (3.2+) of the OverDrive app with an Adobe ID, but you don't need to. When you first launch the OverDrive app, you'll be required to log in with an OverDrive account, which authorizes the app automatically.

You can read the same eBooks on multiple devices (up to six), but the software you use on each device needs to be authorized with the same Adobe ID.

If you don't have an Adobe ID, you can create one on Adobe's website by selecting Get an Adobe ID at the bottom of the page. You'll also have the opportunity to create an Adobe ID when you install Adobe Digital Editions on a computer, or install or download eBooks in older versions of the OverDrive app.

Note: You can also use your OverDrive account to authorize Adobe Digital Editions. You can create an account at overdrive.com.

Please see our specific instructions on how to authorize these apps and devices with an Adobe ID:
