An Adobe ID is a free user account that lets you download DRM-protected eBooks in Adobe Digital Editions, in older versions of the OverDrive app, and on supported eReaders.
You can use one Adobe ID to download the same eBooks on up to six devices, as long as you've authorized each device with the same Adobe ID.
If you don't have an Adobe ID, you can create one on Adobe's website. You'll also have the opportunity to create an Adobe ID when you install Adobe Digital Editions on a computer, or download eBooks in older versions of the OverDrive app.
- When you install the latest version of the OverDrive app on most devices, you'll be prompted to log in with (or create) an OverDrive account, which will automatically authorize your device. This means that you don't need an Adobe ID to download protected eBooks in those versions of the app, but you can still use an Adobe ID to authorize the OverDrive app instead, if you'd like.
- You can use an OverDrive account to authorize Adobe Digital Editions on a computer instead of an Adobe ID.
- If you transfer an eBook from your computer to a supported eReader using Adobe Digital Editions, your eReader will be automatically authorized with the same Adobe ID (or OverDrive account) you use to authorize Adobe Digital Editions.
