If you have an iPod touch, please see getting started with iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch). For all other iPods, the guide below will help you get started.

Step 1

Install OverDrive's desktop app for Windows or Mac. You'll need this free application to download audio titles to your computer and transfer them to your iPod.

Step 2

Open your library's OverDrive website on your computer (find it using overdrive.com) and log in with your library card.

Step 3

On your library's OverDrive website, borrow and download an audio title.

Note: If you'd like to transfer WMA titles to an iPod, you'll need a Windows computer. Even then, some WMA titles can't be transferred to iPods due to publisher restrictions. You can check whether a title can be transferred to an iPod by expanding the "Digital Rights Information" on its details page (look for the "Transfer to Apple device" permission).

Step 4

Plug your iPod into your computer. Then, open OverDrive's desktop app, select the newly downloaded title, and click Transfer. Follow the on-screen prompts to transfer the title to your iPod.

Once it's transferred, you can listen to it just like any other audio file on your iPod. WMA titles will be listed with your playlists, and MP3 titles can be found under "Music."
