You can borrow and transfer eBooks to your NOOK eReader using the free Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) application on your computer.

If you're using a NOOK Color, Tablet, HD, HD+, or Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK, please refer to our guide on getting started with NOOK tablets instead.

Step 1

Install ADE on your computer. You will also need to authorize ADE with an Adobe ID or OverDrive account before you can download library eBooks.

Step 2

Open your library's OverDrive website on your computer (find it using overdrive.com).

Step 3

Sign into your library's OverDrive website, borrow an eBook, and download the EPUB or PDF version of that book. Once downloaded, it should open automatically in ADE.

Note: The NOOK HD, HD+, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK do not support transfer from ADE. If you have one of these devices, install the OverDrive app and borrow titles directly from your NOOK tablet instead.

Step 4

Plug your NOOK into your computer, then use ADE to transfer the eBook you borrowed to your NOOK.

Note: The NOOK GlowLight Plus doesn't use ADE for eBook transfers. Use the steps on NOOK's support page to transfer eBooks to the NOOK GlowLight Plus.

Step 5

Once you've transferred a library eBook to your NOOK, you can open and read it like you would any other eBook.
