Choose the image below that looks like the titles on your library's website.

By default, titles you place on hold will automatically be checked out for you as soon as they're available. Learn more about how automatic hold checkout works and how to turn the feature off.

If automatic checkout is turned off and the title becomes available, then you'll receive an email instructing you to borrow the title before your hold expires.

To borrow the title, follow the steps below.

  1. Follow the link from your email to get to your Holds page on your library's OverDrive website.
    Or, you can go directly to your library's OverDrive website and find your Holds page under your account .
    You'll need to be signed into the site to get to this page.
  2. From your Holds page, click the Borrow button to borrow the title.

Note: If you have already borrowed the maximum number of titles from your library, you will be unable to retrieve your hold (even if you have automatic checkout turned on) until you return a title or a lending period expires.

You can choose to have digital titles that you place on hold automatically borrowed for you as soon as they become available.

If you choose not to have a title on hold automatically borrowed for you, then you'll receive an email when that title becomes available, instructing you to borrow the title before your hold expires.

To borrow the title, follow the steps below.

  1. Follow the link from your email to get to your Holds list on your library's OverDrive website.
    Or, you can go directly to your library's OverDrive website, log in, and find your Holds list under your Account. Your Account icon will have a red notification on it to let you know your hold is available.

  2. From your Holds page, click the Borrow button to check out the title.
