The Kobo Vox is an Android device capable of using OverDrive's mobile app to enjoy eBooks and audiobooks from your library. Set up is easy; all you need is an active Wi-Fi connection on your Vox.
Option 1: Install OverDrive's mobile app from our website
-
Open the browser and swipe down to show the address bar at the top of the screen.
-
Follow the instructions under 'Option 2' in this help article.
Option 2: Install OverDrive's mobile app through the Amazon Appstore
Note: For this method you'll need 1-click purchasing enabled on your Amazon account. This requires your address and credit card number, though you're not charged for free apps like OverDrive.
The advantage of installing the Amazon Appstore is that it gives you an easy way to both install other apps and keep track of updates to OverDrive's mobile app.
-
Using the Browser app on your Vox, go to www.amazon.com/amazonappstoreapp.
-
Tap Download Now.
-
Once the file downloads, you can run the Amazon_Appstore-release.apk from your status bar.
-
Review the app permissions, then tap Install to continue.
-
Once the installation is complete, tap Open to run the app.
-
Sign in to the Appstore using your Amazon.com account credentials.
-
Type 'OverDrive' into the search field, then tap Search.
-
Next to 'OverDrive Media Console', tap FREE then Get App.
Note: You may be prompted to add a credit card to your account to set up 1-Click purchasing.
-
Once the download is complete, review the app permissions then tap Install.
Having trouble?
If you're having trouble getting the installation to work, it may be because your device is set to disallow installation from non-market sources. It sounds complicated, but you'll find some simple instructions on our help pages to get you up and running without any fuss.
