What to do if there is a 'User Not Activated' or 'Loan token not found' error when trying to read an eBook on a NOOK™
This error is typically caused when the NOOK has not been authorized properly. To solve the issue, you need to reset the Adobe credentials on your NOOK.
Note: These instructions are for ADE 2.0. Please make sure you're using the most up-to-date version before continuing.
Note: With the NOOK Tablet, Color, HD and HD+ you can install OverDrive's mobile app to download titles directly.
What you need
Get your Adobe IDs to match using Windows

Make sure your computer is properly authorized.
In ADE, go to Help > Authorization Information…

The authorization window opens and shows you what ID you're currently using for your computer.
If your computer isn't yet authorized, please activate it before continuing.

Close ADE and wait a few seconds.

Reset the ADE folder on the NOOK. For this step, you need to close ADE.

Locate the folder .adobe-digital-editions and delete it.

Open ADE, then try transferring the eBook again.

After the transfer, disconnect your NOOK. You should now be able to read the eBook on your device.
Check your Adobe authentication using a Mac

Make sure your computer is properly authorized.
In ADE, go to Help > Authorization Information…

The authorization window opens and shows you what ID you're currently using on your computer.

Close ADE and wait a few seconds.

Reset the ADE folder on the NOOK. For this step, you need to close ADE.

Connect your NOOK to your computer (if it's not already connected).

Open your NOOK from Finder.

Press Command + Shift + G.

In the 'Go to Folder' window, type: /nook/.adobe-digital-editions

Make sure the bold section of the path above ('nook') matches the name of your NOOK which is shown on the desktop when you plug it in.

Move the contents of the '.adobe-digital-editions' folder to the trash.

Open ADE, then try transferring the eBook again.

After the transfer, disconnect your NOOK. You should now be able to read the eBook on your device.
