How to install Adobe Digital Editions on a Mac

You can install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) to enjoy downloaded eBooks on your computer and transfer to supported eBook readers.

What you need

• A computer with Mac OS 10.6 (or newer)

• Supported browser:
  Safari 4 (or newer)
  Firefox® 3 (or newer)
  Chrome

How to install

1. Visit the Adobe Digital Editions website, then click Download now.

2. Click the download link for the version of ADE you need (Macintosh).

3. Open (mount) the DMG file, then open the Digital Editions 2.0 Installer.
   
   Note: You may have to control-click on Digital Editions 2.0 Installer, then click Open to run the installer.
   
   

4. Follow the prompts in the setup wizard to complete the installation.

5. If ADE was previously installed, you should get an option to MIGRATE DATA from the old install to this new one.
   Migrating data imports your old eBooks into the new ADE.

6. If you currently have an older version of ADE installed, you'll get the option to remove it.
   We recommend you remove the old ADE to avoid confusion and possible download errors.

7. Click Done to exit the setup and launch ADE.

If this is your first time using ADE, please complete Adobe Activation. If you had ADE on your computer before, there shouldn't be any need to reactivate your Adobe ID.

Note: Sometimes your authorization from the previous ADE does not transfer properly. If your Adobe ID is not properly recognized when downloading or transferring titles, try clearing the Adobe ID then reauthorizing your computer.
