How to borrow audiobooks and eBooks using a BlackBerry

Because we are in the process of updating all digital library websites, this article has two sets of instructions (learn more).

With OverDrive's mobile app, you can download MP3 audiobooks and EPUB eBooks from your library directly to your BlackBerry. The app's 'Get Books' feature offers quick access to your library's digital collection.

With BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry 10 devices, you can also read OverDrive Read eBooks right in your browser.

What you need

• A BlackBerry with Internet access

• OverDrive Media Console for BlackBerry

How to download to your BlackBerry

1. Open OverDrive Media Console (OMC) on your BlackBerry.

2. Press the BlackBerry button, then select Get Books.
   
   

3. Select a library on your list to open its digital collection website.
   If your list is empty, or you need to add a new library, select Add a Library.

4. When your library website opens, find a title to borrow by selecting one from the home page or running a search.

5. Select a title, then select Borrow to check it out.
   If prompted, sign in.
   
   

6. Your bookshelf opens, displaying title(s) you have checked out. From here, select Download to download the title to OMC.*
   
   
   

7. On some models, a 'Download' screen will open. Select Save. Once the download is complete, select Open.
   OMC opens, then loads the title onto your OMC bookshelf.

8. When the download is complete, select a title from your OMC bookshelf to begin reading or listening.
   
   
   

Note: If this is your first time downloading an eBook, you may need to authorize OverDrive's mobile app for BlackBerry using your Adobe ID.

*On BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry 10 devices, you can also:

• Select Read to start reading eBooks in your browser.

• Select Kindle Book (U.S. libraries only) from the Download drop-down menu to complete checkout on Amazon's website and send the title to your Kindle reading app.

How to download to your BlackBerry

4. When the mobile site opens, find a title to enjoy. You can:

   • Select a title

   • Select more…

     Note: Your library's mobile site may look slightly different than the one used in our examples, but the steps are virtually the same.

5. When you have found a title, add it to your cart.
   
   

6. Select Proceed to Checkout.
   If prompted, sign in.
   
   

7. Select Confirm check out.
   
   

8. Select Download.

   • If this is your first time downloading an eBook, you may need to authorize OverDrive's mobile app for BlackBerry using your Adobe ID.

   • On some models, a 'Download' screen will open. Select Save. Once the download is complete, select Open.
     
     
     
     OMC opens, then loads the title onto your bookshelf.
